Discover the Artist's Journey

Steph Hargrove is a painter and installation artist engaged in social practice art. She creates large-scale installations to illustrate statistics involving social and environmental issues using found objects and upcycled materials.

Steph graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Art and Performance from the University of Texas at Dallas. Steph’s work has been shown at Dunedin Fine Arts Center, Creative Pinellas, Craighead Green, Ro2 Art, UTD Spin Gallery, the MAC, Beefhaus, 500x, Green Bandana, Trans.lation, the UTD Art Barn, and IndieWalls. Steph has pieces in public and private collections throughout the United States.

Steph relocated from Dallas, Texas to a beautiful beach in Isabela, Puerto Rico to make art next to the ocean. Unfortunately, Hurricane Maria forced her to evacuate Puerto Rico and start a new adventure in Florida. Steph currently resides on the Space Coast with her husband Jason and their rescue dog Jango.

Steph has been raising funds and awareness through art since 2012. She was the market coordinator and a member of the steering committee for Trans.lation, a social practice project led by Rick Lowe and sponsored by the Nasher Sculpture Center. CauseFlowers wall sculptures were designed for Rainforest Trust and saved 100 acres in 2017, and the Pride CauseFlowers have been in action since 2022. Steph has made donations to Population Services International, Ocean Conservancy, Rainforest Trust, The Sato Project, and more through the sale of art prints, photography, and interactive art installation experiences. Steph is a 2020 Creative Pinellas emerging artist grantee, and the recipient of a Pinellas Recovers grant for her co-created project Collect Your Thoughts, which offers art journaling supplies and experiences to underserved communities.
